THURSDAY - AUGUST 7TH

Artisans on the Green @ Center Sandwich Fine Craft Gallery
During the Town of Sandwich’s Old Home Week (the first full week in August), New Hampshire artists and craftspeople gather on the Town Green to demonstrate, describe, and sell quality arts and crafts. The public is welcome to talk with the artists, watch them work, and purchase objects they love. Organized by Sandwich Home Industries each summer for many years, this event is a terrific way to celebrate its educational mission and commitment to the art and craft community.

Saturday Hike @ Upper and Lower Bridle Paths @ 830AM - 11AM
Led by an experienced volunteer hiker, this week’s hike is Bald Knob. We’ll ascend via the Turtleback Mountain, Shannon Brook, and Bald Knob Cut Off trails. This is a moderate level hike that is about 4 miles and has an elevation climb of approximately 500′. This is a free program, though registration is required.

Sensory-Friendly Saturday @ Castle in the Clouds @ 9AM - 10AM
Sensory-Friendly Saturday is an opportunity to tour the historic Lucknow Mansion geared toward guests with autism or other sensory processing needs. This will be a self-guided tour, so you can go at your own pace and choose your own adventure. Before 10 am, the mansion will be open to pre-registered Sensory-Friendly Saturday participants only.

Geology Hike @ Clark Reserve @ 9AM - 12PM
Join Chocorua Lake Conservancy for an exploration of the local glacial and bedrock geology of the Clark Reserve in Chocorua with geologist Rick Allmendinger. The hike will offer an opportunity to see eskers, glacial meltwater channels, and kame terraces, profound evidence of natural climate change over the last 25,000 years, though still far slower than today’s anthropogenic climate change.
